Investment Process — COMPANIES TESTVERSIOON

SmartCap aims to provide capital directly to early-stage Estonian green technology companies who need additional leverage to match private investors for closing a successful funding round.

Through SmartCap Green Fund Investment Programme, we are planning to invest up to 20 million into direct equity or convertible instruments in total until the end of 2024. The investment process can be broken down into 5 stages:

Preparations
  • Investment need is assessed and investment plan drafted
  • Company and investment plan match against SmartCap Green Fund main eligibility rules is checked
  • Necessary questions are asked

Finding private investors
  • The applicant has pre-negotiated investment commitment with experienced private investors
  • Investment term-sheet is drafted

Applying for an investment from SmartCap
  • The company submits signed application and necessary documents to SmartCap Green Fund
  • Initial Eligibility screening is performed

Assessment of applications
  • The application to SmartCap Green Fund is assessed
  • Necessary meetings with founders and site visit is performed
  • Due diligence is performed
  • Investment decision is made

Closing of the investment round
  • Investment documents are negotiated and signed
  • Investment round is closed
  • Funds are transferred
